What I’m Loving Lately.

Happy Friday Y’all!

Since my post on Monday was SO focused on my training in the blog, I missed out on sharing a lot of fun non-training stuff with you all. To compensate for that, I decided to pop in here with a special Friday post of a list of what I’ve been enjoying (besides swimming, biking and running)!

This pillow//

I saw this on a fellow blogger’s Instagram account and now I’m on a mission to find one… (so if you know where to get one, let me know!)

(OR if you’re looking for an amazing and unique birthday gift to get me… my birthday is in June….)

Etsy.com//

I love browsing this website. So many unique items, perfect for finding unique jewelry, homemade gifts, and other items! (Also, see pillow above… found a few that come close, but not quite what I’m looking for!)

A finished project//

Thanks to an amazing friend, the quilt that I started this fall and has been sitting 90% complete since December has finally been finished! It’s amazing and my friend is even more amazing – it’s the second real quilt I’ve made and the first that I’ve had professionally quilted!

….annnnd since it has been 15 years since the first quilt I made, I wouldn’t expect another until about 15 years from now….

My Jeep//

I admit, this isn’t my Jeep, but I LOVE the tire cover and I’m on the hunt for where this one came from. My cousin sent me this picture, and while I usually don’t “girl” my vehicles up, I think I’m ready to make an exception!

This Playlist//

I’ve been having a bit of 90’s Nostalgia this week. Not sure what brought it on, but I had a lot of fun putting this list together & rocking out to tunes from my high school years while driving all over NY and PA the past few days!

These Roads//

Alright, so this last one has a bit to do with training, but whatever. That’s a gigantic part of my life right now! I’ve really enjoyed spending time in the country where I grew up – running and biking miles and miles, soaking in the scenery, thinking about life and achieving new milestones. Life is good.

The Official Start of Race Season//

I’m running the Seneca 7 on Sunday! This is a great race to start the season off with because it’s not even a real race! It’s a relay with 7 people where we run all the way around Seneca Lake – we did this race last year wearing tutu’s and kilts in remembrance of those in Boston who were victims of the bombings. It was a great day with lots of laughs and fun for the whole team.

I’m really looking forward to running again this year – our team is going to dress up as Captain Planet – so shenanigans will be in order again! Annnnd my character may or may not bust out a purple tutu. Just sayin’ – you have to have fun while running. Otherwise what is the point?! (Plus it’s super fun to blow past dudes while wearing a tutu…)

Ok, now your turn!

What have you been loving lately?  I’d love to hear about it!

Cheers!

Currently

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks and I haven’t had time to write anything… sometime soon I’ll write up a post, but in the meantime, I thought I’d do a fun quick survey I saw a couple other bloggers post! (Enjoy this random view into my daily life!)

Current Book: Tell the Wolves I’m Home. Tell-the-wolves-im-home
Current Music: Going through a Grouplove phase this week.never_trust_a_happy_song_grouplove_album Current Guilty Pleasure: Danish Cream Ice Cream… with raspberry topping… when I can get my hands on it.

orange-is-the-new-blackCurrent Wish List: Happiness and health for my friends and family.

Current Needs: Food, Water, Air, Love & Support.

Sorry if these don’t seem like genuine answers but I seriously feel like I have all the material things I want or really need. As I get older wiser, I’m finding my focus shift more and more to the things that can’t be found on a store shelf. (Although I can’t deny that I still love getting new running shoes, outfits, trinkets, etc…)

Current Indulgence: Does running at Green Lakes count? …I’m going to go with yes, since I suppose I could just run in my neighborhood instead of making the drive out to the park. I just love running here, between the roads, lake trails, the meadows and the woods there are so many different terrains and trails to choose from. Plus it’s nice to just disconnect for a while and get lost to think on a long run!

20130821-165807.jpgCurrent Blessing: Honestly, I have a lot of blessings to be thankful for in my life – my health, my family, my friends, I could go on for a while but I guess if I had to pick one current blessing, I am so happy that I got to see my college roomie LW the past two weekends! LW moved to New Zealand after college and met her husband – they recently expanded their family with the addition of baby Paige! We only get to see each other every couple of years (other than our skype dates) and it was so awesome to get to hang with her!
20130821-165745.jpgCurrent Outfit: How about favorite current outfit? My dark blue jeans and striped top or pink plaid shirt and my sandals – would have a pic for you but, the clothes are currently in the laundry…..

Current Excitement: Race season is winding down for me (thankfully… it’s been a crazy one… seriously. Who does that?!) but I still have Ragnar ADK to look forward to!

A few of my happy things.

There are a number of things that have made my week fantastic. I thought I’d throw a few of the highlights out on this sunny afternoon before starting another fun weekend here in CNY!

& 6 months of playlists, beers, dinners, races, road trips, & adventures.

These are a few of my happy things.

I hope you have a incredible weekend!  I know I will since I’ll be volunteering at Irongirl Saturday and then cheering on all my friends during the race Sunday.  To my friends: you are all amazing – have a blast and enjoy every minute!!  You’ve worked hard, and now it’s time to just have fun!!

Happy Things.

There are a number of things that are making me happy right now.  I thought I would take a minute to share a sampling of these things with you all on this Friday afternoon.

1) A Hint of Spring. The snow is melting today and it’s about 40 degrees out – we even got to see the sun for a bit today.  Everytime we get a little glimpse of these things lately, it makes me long for the trails of Green Lakes Park.  I can’t wait until I can get back out there in the mud, hills and run my way up and down the trails.  I miss trail running.  I don’t believe there is anything better than going and running around in the woods for a bit to unwind & kick your butt all at once.

Green Lakes Park.

2) Playlists.  I love getting new music to listen to.

 3) Random Fireworks.  I went for a run last night and on the return loop back, suddenly there were fireworks going off.  It was unexpected and very cool to get to see.

I didn’t have my camera, but… they were cool.

4) Breakfast Pizza.  If you have ever had a Breakfast Pizza, I don’t need to explain this.  If you have never had a Breakfast Pizza, go.  Find one now.  Don’t pass go, don’t collect $200…  alright well maybe grab $10 to buy the pizza… but you get my drift.

It’s pizza, and breakfast.  Perfection.

The best things in life are the simple things.  And nothing makes me happier than the little things that get me through each day.

I hope you all had some little thing (or four, or more!) that made you smile today!
